a pile of pretty pictures
torn edges, too bright, soft focus, a shaky hand, a wrong setting and a sun flare ghost, a breath held, a smile and heart whisper.

and i swim through their memories
the glossy reminders
a story
a thought
a tear and a laugh
a pile of pretty pictures
tell a story
that only i hear

so take another pretty picture
to remember
to forget
to tell a story
that only you hear

because a pile of pretty pictures
is a lifetime of dreams
a journey of ideas
and forgotten notes
carefully pressed behind cellophane
stacked neatly in a wooden box
stored carelessly in forgotten notebooks
curated in hands now frail
with forgotten want.
